Citroen has boosted the zero-emission range and fuel efficiency of its C5 X and C5 Aircross plug-in hybrid models.
Citroen has boosted the zero-emission range and fuel efficiency of its C5 X and C5 Aircross plug-in hybrid models. The C5 Aircross is now equipped with a new, larger battery. Its capacity has increased from 13.2kWh to 14.2kWh, giving 41 miles of electric driving. This moves the car from the 12% benefit-in-kind tax band to the 8% band.
Citroen facelifted the C5 Aircross in August. The updated model features a redesigned front end with a sharper, more aggressive look than before.
There’s also a new interior layout that welcomes a larger infotainment screen and new seats.
With new C5 X PHEV versions, the battery pack is unchanged at 12.4kWh, but the switch-over to the Euro 6.4 standard improves the battery’s minimum charge threshold. This increases the vehicle’s electric-only range to 39 miles, while reducing CO2 emissions – down to 27g/km.
The C5 X launched earlier this year as Citroen’s new flagship car, which has a greater focus on comfort and luxury.
The new model combines the attributes of large saloon, estate and SUV. Both models can be charged in less than two hours with a 7.4kW charger, and form part of Citroen’s plan to offer an electrified variant of all models by 2025.
